Approaching Anxiety Differently

Embracing Courage and Weathering Discomfort

Worry is something that everyone experiences, especially when they are faced with trying to problem solve something in life. But when persistent, intense anxiety prevents you from doing things you want to do and living your life to the fullest, therapy can help.

When you are deep in an anxious feeling, you may feel stuck or even hopeless. But what many people do not realize is that anxiety is one of the most treatable mental health problems, and many people who seek therapy are able to experience tremendous relief relatively quickly.

Anxiety creates a vicious cycle. By learning more about what anxiety is, how it affects you on both an emotional and physical level, and then learning strategies for confronting those anxious feelings – you can learn how to break free and move forward toward your goals.

You may be struggling with:

  • Missing out on things because your worry holds you back
  • Overwhelming feelings of worry or fear
  • Cyclical negative thoughts that just won’t go away
  • Panic that keeps you from going places or engaging in activities
  • Avoiding social situations for fear of being judged
  • Giving up things you enjoy because of your worries
  • Difficulty sleeping or disturbed sleeping patterns

Therapy can help you:

  • Break out of the vicious cycle of fear and anxiety
  • Understand how anxiety works and how to manage it effectively
  • Learn effective skills to manage your mood
  • Gain skills to approach your anxiety constructively
  • Feel less overwhelmed and more empowered
  • Learn simple tools to reduce anxiety and enjoy your life

How do I approach therapy with you?

In my work with my clients, we examine their relationship to their anxiety, and explore what situations, stressors, and avoidance of feelings might lead them to feel more anxious. We then learn how to skillfully manage anxiety when it does occur.

Our work together will be rooted in the small and manageable steps that will get you closer to the positive changes you want to see in your life—to the hopeful and happy outcome you want and deserve.

Together with me, you will learn how your anxiety works (it’s freaking sneaky). You will acquire the skills to know what to do when worry pops up. You will learn how to make sense of the “noise” that comes with especially anxious moments. You will learn how to take a step back and gather yourself. You will learn how to move towards and past your anxiety—you can finally face and conquer what has seemed so scary and overwhelming.

Therapy can help you approach anxiety differently. Learn the strategies you need to reclaim your life.
